It's not the pickle you'll find at TooJay's or your favorite deli, Palm Beach Gardens is going crazy over PickleBall. PickleBall is the game that's talking about the area by storm. Don't believe me, drive over to the Russo Sports Complex off of Central Ave and you will a ton of people who are enthusiastically supporting this new pastime.
Think of it as Tennis on a smaller court or life-size ping pong. According to Wikipedia, Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a Wiffle Ball, over a net.
The group of people that have been gathering at the Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Center and the Russo Sports Complex are so enthusiastic about playing that the membership and participants have grown at a rapid pace. This sport plays host to all ages and the membership is always looking for new participants to join.
It's not only Palm Beach Residents that have taken notice, but real estate developers are also now building PickleBall courts into their community amenities. Quail Ridge Country Club, Gleneagles Country Club, and The Club at Ibis all feature courts specifically for PickleBall.
